Differences in mechanical properties:
301: Higher tensile strength and hardness (tensile strength approximately 520-1030MPa), excellent elasticity and fatigue resistance, with significant strength improvement after cold processing, suitable for scenarios requiring high strength and elasticity;
304: With a slightly lower tensile strength (about 515MPa), it exhibits better plasticity and toughness. The strength increase after cold processing is less than that of 301, making it more suitable for scenarios requiring forming processes.
Difference in corrosion resistance:
304: Due to its higher nickel content, it exhibits superior corrosion resistance, especially in terms of acid and alkali resistance as well as atmospheric corrosion resistance, making it a versatile corrosion-resistant stainless steel;
301: Its corrosion resistance is weaker than that of 304, and it is prone to rusting in humid environments with corrosive media. It is more suitable for use in dry environments.
Differences in applicable scenarios:
304: Widely used in food machinery, medical equipment, kitchen and bathroom supplies, chemical equipment, and other scenarios with high requirements for corrosion resistance and plasticity;
301: Suitable for springs, spring leaves, elevator decorative panels, rail transit components, high-strength parts for stamping and forming, and other scenarios where high strength and elasticity are required, and the environment is dry.
